Heart of Our Country (Uluru) by Aboriginal Artist Kelly Taylor & her Nephew Beaver Lennon.
This exquisite statement piece of the most iconic place in Australia Ayers Rock (Uluru) by two talented Aboriginal Artists from the same bloodline Kelly Taylor & her nephew Beaver Lennon.
In 2017, Kelly began painting the Uluru set. She was inspired by the memories of her journeys with her grandmother Millie Taylor (nee-Lennon), from Alice Springs, through the APY Lands. Whenever a beautiful memory appeared in her dreams, she wanted to capture it on canvas. So, she picked up her paintbrushes and started painting the background of the canvas, beginning with the sky. She added yellow colour to depict the sun, and then moved to the centre, adding orange to represent the heat and the red desert sand. After that, she painted brown colour to represent different parts of the land followed by a black landscape to represent a long-distance appearance upon sunset in the desert.
Next, Kelly painted Uluru Ayers Rock and added two eucalyptus trees, two kangaroos, and eagles. Once finished, she painted the bushes, rocks, and waterhole. She then asked her nephew Beaver to add his touch to the clouds, magpies, kangaroos, and a bit of the bushes, and to highlight the Ernabella Waterhole on the right at the bottom. This was a place her grandmother and other kids visited while living in the bush. Kelly's grandmother talked about the big waterhole in her book, "Born Out Bush."
After Beaver completed adding his touch, Kelly added the final touches to the trees, bushes, rocks, and landscape.
